Aboard the Tiger's Claw, hidden deep within a asteroid field

Captain Chakara's Personal Log:
Its been five years since the Nietzschean's started their rebellion, four years since the battle of witch head led to the destruction of the majority of the fleets on both sides, three years since the Magog started their reign of terror across the three galaxies. Now has begun the long night, the darkest chapter in the commonwealth's history.

Once, i was a high ranked officer in the great military force known as the high guard. Once, i commanded one of the largest high guard battle groups ever to be assembled. Once, i was highly decorated for numerous heroic victories against great opposing forces. Now, i am the captain of a heavily damaged ship. I lead a hand full of the survivors of my once powerful battle group, only half of my crews are still alive out of the thousands that once lived.

Ever since the fall of the commonwealth, we have been in battle after battle. My crews are demoralized and our ships have seen far better days. Of the once large battle group i commanded, only a hand full of ships are still left intact and operational. My flagship the Tiger's Claw is still mostly in one piece, after the last battle we got in with the Magog then the Nietzschean's who jumped us not long after, has left us in a poor condition. Our defenses missiles have all be used and we only have enough offensive missiles for maybe one more minor engagement, our armor has been severely damaged and probably wont even last long enough under sustained fire to even use up the last of our attack missiles.........thats what i get for using my ship as a shield for the rest of my fleet.

Thankfully two Righteous Fist of Heaven Class Deep Stand-Off Attack Ships survived the battle of witch head with my ship, Hell's Fury and Heaven's Wrath. I tend to just refer to them as the twins though, its thanks to them that i was able to escape the battle of witch head alive. As we made our escape we thankfully came across a fully stocked Fingers of Dawn Class Supply and Maintenance Ship, Infinite Succor. With it we where able to resupply after our escape so we could continue fighting off the remaining Nietzschean's we encountered, sadly its supplies have since run out.

After our escape we where alone for a long time, drifting from one high guard outpost to another looking for supplies and survivors. Sadly we found little of either, most of the outposts where raided and destroyed before we got there. We did however come across three damaged Pride of Kaldera Class Group Defense Frigates which my engineers where able to restore to mostly functioning order, we had to man them with skeleton crews from my flagship though so they could be used to support the twins during combat.

Since the long night started, we have had to scavenge for supplies from abandoned high guard outposts. Our supplies have been running low as of late with all the battles we have sadly run into since the fall of the commonwealth, not all of them where winning battles. My battle group is now hiding out in a mineral rich asteroid field so we can exact some badly needed repairs and produce much needed ammunition to restock our depleted armaments.

Its been almost a week since we entered the asteroid field to exact some repairs, turns out the field was not nearly as mineral rich as the long range sensors showed. The repairs to the twins and the defense frigates are mostly complete, the damage they sustained was not nearly as bad as what the Tiger's Claw took in the last couple battles. The Tiger's Claw's slip stream drive went off line shortly after the jump to the asteroid field, looks like we will be stuck here a bit longer till we manage to get it back on-line. Tora, the ship's artificial intelligence says he may have found files pertaining to a hidden high guard military production base that may have escaped the destruction the Nietzcheian's brought. Decrypting the files are taking longer then expected though, our power systems are running at only fifty percent capacity so Tora had to divert power from some of his processors to keep the key systems running.

The Infinite Succor, our supply and maintenance ship, has been producing as much ammunition as it can with the limited resources available. The Succor's AI says there should be enough materials to at least make enough ammunition to fill ten percent of each ship's magazines, not exactly battle worthy stores but it will hopefully last us long enough to find a more mineral rich field to better produce weapons. Now, the Tiger's Claw, where to begin on that report. Well, its still not in the best of shape at the moment. The structural integrity of the ship has mostly been restored, the hull is around sixty percent repaired but the armor on the other hand is still not even close to a battle ready condition. We sadly dont have enough resources to repair the armor to anything close to what we need it at so im reallocating the resources to getting the battle blades rebuilt and restoring the radiating counter measure generators to peak performance, so basically we are relying on luck to not get hit if we see combat again.

Yuki sits in his slightly damaged chair in his rather messed up ready room, silently grumbling to himself as he wished he had the extra resources to repair the damages this room sustained over the years. Slowly he reads over the flexi with the reports on the repairs, the info displayed there less then good. The door to his ready room suddenly sliding open and getting stuck half way, the senior officer standing in the doorway letting out a heavy sigh as he has to squeeze through the opening "Well, i guess they never got around to fixing this door" Yuki's second in command, commander Aki Chara says as he makes his way to where the captain is seated. Aki stands there for a moment looking at his commanding officer, Yuki's uniform neatly pressed and cleaned, sitting there in a lop sided chair in a dirty room. "That seat does not look very comfortable Yuki"

Captain Yuki looks up at his second in command, with a less then happy look on his face and a grumble to his tone "Its not.....at all comfortable" letting out a sigh he attempts to sit straight up in the chair "So, what have you brought me other then a reason to throw this chair out the nearest airlock and take your office as my new ready room"

Aki gives a slight chuckle and a wry smile at Yuki's words, not sure if it was a joke or a promise "Well sir, i have some good news, some somewhat good news and some bad news. Which would you like first and should i put on my armor first before i tell you" the commander fidgeting a little as he waits for the captain to speak.

Yuki lets out a sigh and looks up at Aki "You wont need armor, yet. Tell me the bad news first, maybe the good news will cheer me up afterwards" Aki looks at his captain and hands him the flexi he was carrying "As im sure you have guessed Yuki, the usable resources in this asteroid field have been used up. Thats the bed news, now for the somewhat good news. The slipstream drive it back online........mostly......for the time being anyway" Yuki glares up at his commander, giving him a less then believing look.

Aki clears his throat and chuckles nervously at the look "Well...umm....on to the good news. Tora has finished decrypting the files and he believes he has found the location to the high guard base, its in the Prince system on the planet Mer Sara. I have the slipstream drive charging up and the fleet readying for the jump, we can leave at any time sir" Yuki smiles a bit at the news "I guess you will get to keep your office, for now anyway. Slave the other ships to our navigation system and lets get a move on, this asteroid field is getting depressing to hide in"

The Outskirts of the Prince System, on Route to Mer Sara

The Tiger's Wrath battle group exits slipstream on the edge of the prince system, the lead ship 'The Tiger's Claw' exits alot harder then the others. The hard exit from slipstream nearly throws the captain of the glorious heritage class heavy cruiser form his seat, picking himself up he looks at his second in command who is giving him a wry smile in exchange for the glare on Yuki's face "Aki, remind me to show that engineer that said he fixed the slipstream core, the nearest airlock the next time we see him" he states as he dusts off his uniform and returns to his chair.

Tora, the artificial intelligence of the Tiger's Claw suddenly calls out over the ship comms "Captain, long range sensors are picking something up. Its a battle in progress over Mer Sara, IFF tags are showing a large number of RA-26 Shrike class strike fighters attacking a. Captain, its a high guard ship, its the Andromeda Ascendant!"

Captain Yuki stands up quickly from his chair, calling out in a loud urgent voice to those around him "Make best possible battle speed to their location, have all ships go to full combat mode" klaxons start to sound all over the ship, the battle blades on the Tiger's Claw extend as the battle group speeds towards the ongoing combat. Captain Chakara stands at command, issuing orders to his fleet "Have the twins load all their ELS tubes with kinetic kill ordnance, ready for rapid reload and have them position themselves for fighter interception. Have two of the three defense frigates support them, the third one is with us. We are going to support the Andromeda, i want whats left of our ordnance loaded and ready for support fire. All frigates load defensive missiles and ready for missile interception from all enemy ships, lets bring it people.

As the Tiger's Wrath battle group approaches the combat unfolding, they take witness to the Andromeda taking hits from multiple anti-ship missiles, fire blossoming along her flanks. Her radiating counter measure generators unable to stop all the missiles fired at her from the fighters, several of the enemy ships taken out by missiles fired from her after they launched theirs. The twins and their support frigates move into position against the enemy fighters, the captain of the Tiger's Claw calling out over the system wide channel as they near their besieged sister ship "This is the High Guard heavy cruiser 'Tiger's Claw' to the Andromeda Ascendant, fall back to a defensive position and ready for defensive fire support. The Tiger's Wrath battle group is here to assist you, lets rain down fire on these marauders and send them back to hell!"

The twin DSA destroyers begin opening up on the attacking fighters, unleashing their fury upon those that would dare attack a high guard vessel. Bright flashes can be seen as hundreds of kinetic kill missiles impact the offending enemy fighters, destroying them as they rip through their hulls and make their AP reactors explode. Defense frigates begin their work on neutralizing the remaining enemy missiles with their own defensive ordnance, taking out the second wave of anti-ship missiles heading for the Andromeda like they where nothing more then annoying flies. The Tiger's Claw puts itself between the Andromeda and any remaining enemy targets, the defense frigate with it stationing itself over the Andromeda and readying its defensive payload for interception work.

The fury that has been unleashed against the enemy belies the sorry state of the high guard battle group, the missiles they just used have nearly depleted their remaining stores. Yuki stands on the bridge of his command ship, opening a direct secure channel to the bridge of his ship's sister ship "This is Captain Chakara to the Captain of the Andromeda, come in and report on your status. Can you still fight, we dont have the ordnance here for an extended battle. The enemy is using medium range fighters, there is still a command ship hiding somewhere close so keep your eyes open and ready what ever you have left."
