Torpedo launcher (also known as a torpedo bank) is a common term for systems that deploy projectiles such as torpedoes and probes. A torpedo tube is a part of a torpedo launcher. Torpedo launchers can usually be accessed by personnel from a torpedo bay.
Micro torpedo launchers
Micro torpedoes and micro torpedo launchers exist on some smaller Starfleet craft such as shuttles, and runabouts. They are simple delivery systems, without magnetic accelerators, as micro torpedoes use a miniature fusion thruster for propulsion.
Electromagnetic Launch System (ELS)
High-powered electro-magnetic missile tubes, which accelerate offensive and defensive loads into space. The ELS is necessary to allow for a safe distance between a missile and the originating starship when the missile activates its organic acceleration capability.
